The Department of Human Development and Family Studies supports research, teaching and outreach programs to understand and support thriving among children, youth and families across diverse contexts. Housed across four buildings, the department includes 20 faculty and more than 300 students, as well as teams of academic, outreach, and business office staff. Subunits include the Child Development Laboratory, the Family Resiliency Center, the Autism Program, and the Child Care Resource Service.
Job SummaryProvides administrative support to the Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) and manages the daily operations of departmental shared spaces in Christopher Hall.
Duties & Responsibilities
High school diploma or equivalent. Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment with minimal physical exertion. Responsibilities require occasional lifting and moving of office supplies, packages, books, equipment, and materials for meetings or events, as well as filing documents in cabinets and shelving. Must be flexible, be able to manage multiple priorities, and maintain a professional and customer-focused demeanor. Appointment InformationThis is a 100% full-time Civil Service 3266 - Office Manager position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 10/19/2026. This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship. The bargaining agreement sets a wage of $47,915.40. Out-of state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position. Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver's License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment. Work for this position will be expected to work at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus on a full-time basis per the University's Workplace Flexibility policy.
