About the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology
The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the largest producers of electrical engineers and computer engineers in the United States. Almost 2,600 students are enrolled in the School's graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the last academic year, 801 degrees were awarded. All ECE undergraduate and graduate programs are in the top five of the most recent college rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

In addition to the main campus in Atlanta, Georgia, ECE also has permanent operations at Georgia Tech-Lorraine in France. Graduate students who spend at least one semester each at of the Georgia Tech locations (Atlanta, Lorraine, on two continents, North America and Europe) can earn the Georgia Tech Global Engineering Immersion Program (GEIP) Certificate when they receive the Georgia Tech M.S. degree.

Over 110 ECE faculty members are involved in 11 areas of research and education: bioengineering, computer systems and software, digital signal processing, electrical energy, electromagnetics, electronic design and applications, nanotechnology, optics and photonics, systems and controls, telecommunications, and VLSI systems and digital design: and the School is either home to or a key player in almost 20 research centers and consortia.

Job Summary

Provide a wide variety of duties in direct support of the Chair's strategic and administrative activities and responsibilities for the unit. Provides administrative operational support to School Administration, faculty, classified staff, researchers, and students. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This incumbent will be responsible for managing the front office operations, manage the RPT and PPR process for the school, oversee all school events internal and external, manage the Administrative Support team as well as establishing administrative procedures/practices to improve the day-to-day operations of the school.This position will interact on a regular basis with: Faculty, Classified Staff, Researchers, Students, Alum and Corporate/Industry Sponsors. This position typically will advise and counsel: All levels including School Administration. This position will supervise: Admin Supervisors, Event Coordinator, and Admin Professional staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Manage administrative support staff in the School, including setting goals and managing performance; managing the support assignments for the admin team and communicate changes to faculty and school operations as needed.

Job Duty 2 -
Serve as project manager for key initiatives and projects as assigned by the school chair.

Job Duty 3 -
Participate in the collaboration of outreach initiatives with the school Development & Communication teams.

Job Duty 4 -
Accompany school chair when requested, for high level visits from alums, donors and corporations.

Job Duty 5 -
Review the administrative, event, and administrative office suite budgets.

Job Duty 6 -
Coordinate faculty evaluation process and maintain files; provide oversight of annual and special event planning for the Chair; coordinate school search committee activities.

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Eight to ten years job related experience

Other Information

The Responsibilities for this position will be to:

  • Lead and coordinate faculty personnel processes for tenure-track, non-tenure-track, and research faculty, including reappointment, promotion, and tenure reviews, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and deadlines. (Faculty Affairs/RPT)
  • Provide executive-level support to senior leadership, managing complex calendars, travel, expenses, and scheduling priorities for the School Chair and other key stakeholders. (Executive Support, Calendar & Travel Management)
  • Lead and execute school-wide initiatives, programs, and events, coordinating stakeholders and resources to achieve strategic objectives. (Strategic Initiatives & Events)
  • Lead committees, working groups, and engagement programs, including staff recognition initiatives, awards programs, technical interest groups (TIGs), and other strategic projects. (Committee & Program Leadership)
