| Essential Job Duties |
The
Equine & Farm Animal Field Services Clinical Technician provides high-level technical support across all farm animal species (including bovine, caprine, ovine, and camelid) as well as equine patients when assisting hospital floor technicians. This role collaborates closely with clinicians to perform clinical treatments, animal restraint, diagnostic testing, and operational management, while actively supporting the hands-on clinical instruction of veterinary students, interns, and house officers.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support & Patient Care
- Assist veterinarians with physical examinations, diagnostic procedures, animal handling, and humane restraint.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, perform diagnostic laboratory tests, and continuously monitor patient health status.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely medical records and patient flow sheets.
- Strictly adhere to and enforce all hospital Infectious Disease Control protocols to ensure biosafety.
Teaching & Instruction
- Assist in training, guiding, and supervising veterinary students, interns, and house officers in clinical skills, animal restraint, and patient management procedures.
Service & Administrative Management
- Oversee field service vehicle management, including scheduling, routine maintenance, and inspection logs.
- Manage service inventory: monitor stock levels, order/purchase supplies, and ensure cost-effective resource utilization.
- Ensure accurate diagnostic and treatment billing, audit flow sheets for accuracy, and reconcile service records.
- Facilitate clear communication and seamless collaboration between field services, hospital floor teams, and ancillary hospital units.
Facility & Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain all clinical equipment and specialized field gear, ensuring proper sanitation, calibration, and adherence to routine repair schedules.
- Keep clinical preparation areas and field response units stocked, organized, and ready for immediate deployment.
Physical & Professional Demands:
- Requires extensive mixed-animal handling experience, the ability to lift up to 75 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Requires extended physical stamina, strong technical/computer skills, and professional communication under high-stress conditions.

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
Completion of an accredited training program in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Some positions may require additional Training, Certifications, or Licensure.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience in clinical handling, diagnostics, and biosafety across farm species and equines.
- Experience in training and supervising veterinary students, interns, and house officers.
- Skill in managing field vehicles, inventory purchasing, and medical billing.
- Technical ability to calibrate, sanitize, and repair clinical gear.
- Experience preparing mobile response units for immediate field deployment.
