Position Title: Brake Press/Laser Operator

Wage: $22.00-$24.00/hour

Shift: 1st

Hours: 5:00am-3:30pm Monday-Thursday, Friday overtime available and currently expected

QPS Employment Group is seeking a skilled Press Brake / Laser Operator for a manufacturing client in the Greater Milwaukee Area. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC laser cutting and press brake equipment to fabricate metal components according to engineering drawings, production schedules, and quality standards. Successful candidates will possess strong blueprint reading skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Brake Press/Laser Operator Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Set up and operate CNC laser cutting equipment and press brake machines

- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings

- Select proper tooling, materials, and machine settings for production runs

- Make machine programming adjustments as needed to maintain quality standards

- Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision measuring instruments

- Verify dimensions and tolerances meet customer and company specifications

- Load and unload raw materials and finished products safely and efficiently

- Perform routine machine maintenance and daily equipment inspections

- Troubleshoot machine and production issues to minimize downtime

- Maintain accurate production and quality records

- Follow all company safety policies and procedures

- Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S principles

Brake Press/Laser Operator Requirements:

- High school diploma or GED required

- Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC laser and/or press brake equipment preferred

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings

- Experience using precision measuring tools and performing quality inspections

- Basic CNC programming and computer skills preferred

- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

- Preferred experience with Amada, Trumpf, Bystronic, Cincinnati, or similar fabrication equipment

- Preferred knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes

- Preferred forklift and overhead crane experience

- Preferred experience in lean manufacturing environments

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

- Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and handling materials

- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

- Manufacturing and production facility setting

- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots

- Friday overtime is available and currently expected based on production needs

- Key skills: CNC laser operation, press brake setup and operation, blueprint reading, precision measurement, quality control, troubleshooting, material handling, safety compliance, time management, teamwork
