Position title
Sr. CNC Machinist
Description

The Sr. CNC Machinist (Lathe) is responsible for all turned machining, both manual and CNC lathe operation. This includes CNC programming for machine parts, tool selection, setup and operation. This position is responsible for the supervision of operators and the running of two CNC lathes with live tooling and manual lathes.

Responsibilities

  • Write and modify G-Code programs to make parts optimally
  • Tool selection including optimum cutting tools, speeds and feed rates
  • Setup including multi-axis and tight tolerance (to 0.0001)
  • Read and understand engineering drawings
  • Ability to use inspection tools including calipers and micrometers
  • Inspect or provide parts to the QC Inspector for inspection
  • Train and support CNC Operators with large quantity runs
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on machines
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:



  • 5+ years using CNC including programming, tool selection, setup and operation
  • 3+ years programming in G-Code
  • 3+ years in tooling/cutter selection
  • 1+ year supervising operators
  • Ability to self-inspect parts and use inspection tools accurately (calipers and micrometers)
  • Strong mathematical acumen - addition, subtraction, division, multiplication and geometry


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 10+ years programming and optimizing programs for tuned parts
  • 5+ years with live tooling
  • 3+ years with HAAS lathes


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to visually inspect components and accurately read and use inspection tools, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation is required to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to stand, twist, turn, and /or bend for extended periods, up to 8 hours per workday, as required to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • High School Diploma
