The Program Logic Control (PLC) Technician is responsible for installing, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated systems within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimizes downtime, and supports continuous improvement initiatives across production operations

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and related devices

  • Writes basic PLC programs (Ladder Logic) and understands and analyzes existing PLC ladder logic, recommends solutions, and initiates modifications as needed
  • Responsible for hands on solutions including installations and upgrades
  • Completes preventative maintenance as required
  • Utilizes knowledge and experience in variable voltage circuits, 4-20mA circuits and 3 phase power up to 480v to perform assigned tasks
  • Identifies problematic areas and inform supervisor of solutions
  • Performs repairs in a cost-effective, safe, and environmentally friendly manner to maximize equipment availability
  • Applies proper safety practices and follow procedures while performing maintenance tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Vocational or Technical degree
  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting and programming PLCs (Ladder Logic)
  • Ability to read and understand repairs manuals and drawings
  • Demonstrated knowledge relating to Programmable Logic Controller installation, troubleshooting, programming, including knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic devices as related to PLCs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in supporting Rockwell Automation PLC
  • Ability to interact within a multi-disciplined team
