Lecturer

The Department of Applied Economics is in search of a part time lecturer to help teach an undergraduate course in Sustainability Studies program.

Job Duties

100% Teaching undergraduate course in Sustainability Studies program. Work includes creating a syllabus, delivering lectures, grading student work, coordinate and evaluate student projects, advise and mentor students in the class.

Required/Essential:

• Advanced degree in a related field of study
• Excellent writing skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of sustainability and systems thinking.
• Experience or ability to teach sustainability related courses at the collegiate level.
• Experience and ability to organize and manage students projects
• Experience working/teaching with culturally diverse students
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, students, staff and the community
• Experience working collaboratively with academic departments and/or in the community.
• Experience advising/mentoring students.

Preferred:

• Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the collegiate level.

The Department of Applied Economics (APEC) supports the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Science's (CFANS) and the University of Minnesota's land-grant mission through its teaching, research, and extension programs. APEC's teaching programs include Bachelor of Science degrees in Applied Economics and Agricultural & Food Business Management, and Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Applied Economics. Its research and extension focus are broadly defined as Food Systems; Development, Growth, & Trade; Environmental & Resource Economics; and Public Sector Economics.

APEC is the administrative home for the Sustainability Studies Minor, which is jointly run with the Institute on the Environment. The Sustainability Studies Minor immerses undergraduate students in the exploration of real-world problems from a variety of academic perspectives, incorporating disciplines from across the natural, social and applied sciences.

Pay Range: $5,000 - $6,500; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
