Temporary Position Overview

The University of Minnesota Crookston is seeking an organized, student-focused Career Fair Coordinator to coordinate the 2026 UMN Crookston Career Fair on October 1. This part time position would work 2 to 3 days per week (up to a maximum of 67 days) in the role. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Director of Student Success and student employees. In this role, you will lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of this year's career fair. The primary goal of this role is to bridge the gap between our student body, alumni, and regional or national employers to drive meaningful employment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Campus Logistics & Venue Coordination
    • Reserve on-campus venues (e.g., student union, athletic facilities) and map floor plans.
    • Coordinate with campus partners including Facilities, IT, Catering, and Parking Services.
    • Manage booth layout logistics, crowd flow, and student check-in stations.
  • Employer Recruitment & Relations
    • Invite, vet, and register external employers and corporate sponsors using the Handshake platform.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for recruiters regarding logistics, shipping, and billing.
  • Student Engagement & Campus Marketing
    • Develop targeted marketing campaigns to drive high student and alumni attendance.
    • Partner with academic advisors, faculty, and student clubs to promote the fair within specific majors.
    • Organize prep workshops (e.g., resume reviews, elevator pitch practice) leading up to the event.
  • Event Operations & Staffing
    • Recruit, train, and schedule student volunteers or staff to assist with day-of operations.
    • Oversee real-time problem-solving during the event to ensure a positive employer and student experience.
    • Analyze event metrics (attendance, employer satisfaction) and compile post-event reports for university leadership.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma required.
  • Soft Skills: Strong public speaking abilities, passion for student success, and the cultural competence needed to work with a diverse student population.

Preferred Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience: 3 months to 3 years of experience in university career services, event planning, student programming, or university relations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with campus career management software (e.g., Handshake, Symplicity) and event registration tools.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
