The Department of Pediatrics at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School ( RWJMS), in partnership with Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital ( BMSCH) at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, is seeking a pediatric cardiologist to join a growing, comprehensive pediatric cardiovascular program serving children and families throughout New Jersey.
We welcome candidates across all stages of their careers, from physicians completing fellowship to experienced pediatric cardiologists. Positions can be tailored to the successful candidate's clinical interests, academic goals, and experience. Mid-career and senior physicians will have opportunities for defined clinical and programmatic leadership roles as the division expands.
A primary recruitment focus includes any of these areas or a combination thereof - General Cardiology, Echocardiography and Fetal Cardiology, with opportunities to help develop an integrated imaging program encompassing transthoracic echocardiography, fetal echocardiography, and advanced cardiovascular imaging. Candidates with expertise or strong interest in these areas are particularly encouraged to apply. We are also developing the following areas: physicians interested in heart failure/cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, Electrophysiology, quality and outcomes, research, and education.
A Growing Cardiovascular Program
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology is part of a broader effort by RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Health to expand and integrate pediatric cardiovascular services across New Jersey. Faculty have opportunities to participate in subspecialty program development, regional outreach, fetal cardiology growth, quality initiatives, and the development of coordinated pathways for children with congenital and acquired heart disease.
Pediatric cardiologists provide ambulatory, inpatient, consultative, fetal, and imaging services at BMSCH and affiliated clinical locations. Faculty participate in shared pediatric cardiology service and call coverage, including weekends and holidays.
The New Brunswick academic campus brings together Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the Child Health Institute of New Jersey, and nearby Children's Specialized Hospital, creating a collaborative environment for the care of medically and surgically complex children.
Academic & Leadership Opportunities
Faculty receive an academic appointment through Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, with rank commensurate with experience. Teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, advanced practice providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team are integral to the role.
Candidates interested in clinical research, quality improvement, outcomes, and education have access to the extensive academic resources of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and opportunities for collaboration across Rutgers and its partner institutions.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree, be board-certified in Pediatrics, be board-eligible or board-certified in Pediatric Cardiology, have completed an accredited Pediatric Cardiology fellowship, and be eligible for medical licensure in New Jersey.
Additional training or expertise in cardiac imaging and/or fetal cardiology is highly desirable, although candidates with a strong interest in developing expertise in these areas are also encouraged to apply.
