Data Governance Analyst 2 Job Responsibilities:
Support the data governance office in defining and developing policies, standards, processes, and metrics. Develop quality data practices and work with business to define acceptable thresholds for success. Recommend and implement strategies to promote a data-driven culture within the organization. Collaborate with stakeholders to assess understanding of data and identify opportunities for improvement. Supports development of governance documentation, standards, and guidance to promote consistent data usage across the organization. Maintain awareness of Inova's Data Asset Inventories, Catalogs, Business Glossaries, Data Lineage including documentation of data architecture. Monitor metrics related to use of Inova's data assets. Provide practice knowledge guidance to Junior analysts as needed. Supports data access controls across analytics and enterprise platforms. Reviews and validates access requests (e.g., PROD vs NON-PROD, reports, dashboards, data extracts). Applies role-based access governance and least privilege standards while identifying potential risk gaps or policy exceptions. Partners directly with Information Security, Compliance, Audit, and technical teams on governance-related reviews and remediation activities. Supports governance decisions related to data sharing, outbound data usage, and sensitive data handling practices. Maintains and improves governance controls, documentation standards, and audit readiness processes. Identifies trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement related to data governance and access management practices. Partners with Information Security and IT to align governance processes with security policies.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Associate degree OR 2 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum Experience requirement
- Experience: 3 years of experience in healthcare or business environment AND 2 years of experience working with data access, data quality, or metadata management processes or with data governance, data management, or analytics operations.
- Certification: EPIC certified within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Analytics security administration and user access management.
- Role-based access control (RBAC), security provisioning, and permission management.
- Epic analytics security (Cogito, Radar, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, or related Epic security experience preferred).
- Troubleshooting user access issues and partnering with technical teams to resolve security-related requests.
- Understanding of least-privilege access principles, compliance, and audit readiness.
- Working with Active Directory/security groups and access request workflows.
- Documentation of security standards, access procedures, and governance processes.
