Job Summary

The Data Center Superintendent is responsible for leading critical infrastructure build-outs within enterprise and hyperscale data center environments. This position provides hands-on supervision of structured cabling and low voltage installations, oversees field teams and subcontractors, and ensures projects are completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and in accordance with applicable industry standards. The ideal candidate brings extensive structured cabling or low voltage experience, a strong commercial construction background, and demonstrated leadership experience in data center or other mission-critical environments.

Job Responsibilities




  • Lead daily field operations for multiple structured cabling and low voltage projects within active data center environments.



  • Manage and coordinate on-site teams of 10 or more technicians, foremen, and subcontractors.



  • Review and interpret project blueprints, installation plans, scope documents, and other technical documentation.



  • Oversee installation quality and ensure work is performed in accordance with BICSI guidelines and applicable industry standards.



  • Track project milestones, identify and address schedule deviations, and ensure deliverables are completed on time.



  • Mentor junior team members, provide performance feedback, and support ongoing technical development.



  • Enforce site-specific safety requirements, OSHA standards, and established workplace safety policies.



  • Conduct jobsite safety audits and toolbox talks and address identified safety concerns.



  • Respond promptly to incidents and ensure required documentation is completed accurately.



  • Serve as a primary on-site point of contact for project managers, general contractors, and client representatives.



  • Communicate project progress, risks, issues, and recommended solutions clearly and professionally.



  • Maintain a professional, collaborative, and solution-oriented approach on high-visibility projects.



  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas within active data center environments.



  • Support project documentation, including redlining as-built drawings and maintaining accurate installation records.




Job Requirements




  • 7+ years of experience in structured cabling or low voltage installation, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or field leadership capacity.



  • Experience working in commercial construction, data center, or other mission-critical environments.



  • Strong knowledge of BICSI standards and data center construction practices.



  • Experience with physical infrastructure, including cable tray, ladder racks, fiber routing, and MDF/IDF build-outs.



  • Ability to read, interpret, and redline blueprints, as-built drawings, installation plans, and technical documentation.



  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills.



  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.



  • Lift, fall protection, and confined space certifications are preferred.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.



  • Ability to work on ladders and lifts and remain on foot for extended periods as required by job duties.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 40 hours per week.



  • Overtime will be required based on project needs.



  • Specific daily site start times will be determined based on project requirements.



  • Must be willing to travel to other sites for training as needed.



  • Once the assigned project site is operational, work is expected to be primarily local.
