About This Role

The IT Support Specialist III is vital in managing and optimizing endpoint management and patch management services to ensure the efficiency and security of PC and Mac systems within the university. This position plays a key role in maintaining system performance, enhancing user satisfaction, and ensuring high compliance with the latest software updates. The specialist will work closely with IT teams to streamline processes, implement new technologies, and maintain a robust IT infrastructure that supports the university's operational needs. This position provides Tier II and III support and service restoration for daily operations and projects in a complex, distributed computing environment.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and three years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • IT Support Experience: Solid experience in IT support, focusing on endpoint and patch management for both PC and Mac systems. Experience in managing IT services within an IT department is highly desirable.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in managing IT tools and technologies, including endpoint management systems and patch deployment tools. Familiarity with best practices in IT operations and system maintenance.
  • Collaborative and Vendor Interaction Skills: Proven ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with external vendors to enhance IT services. Understanding of the contractual and operational aspects of working with IT service providers.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively explaining technical issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
  • Operational IT Support Implementation: Experience in deploying IT management solutions and enhancing system performance for endpoint and patch management services.
  • IT Support Expertise: Solid knowledge of IT support principles and best practices with a focus on system maintenance and user support.
  • Technical IT Proficiency: Practical experience with IT tools and technologies, including endpoint management systems for PC and Mac, and software update mechanisms.
  • Budget Awareness for IT Tasks: Understanding of budget considerations specifically related to IT projects and maintenance, ensuring cost-effective management of IT resources.
  • Technology Application in IT Services: Skills in leveraging both established and emerging technologies to bolster IT system capabilities and user satisfaction.
  • Operational Efficiency in IT Services: Demonstrated ability to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of IT operations, specifically in system management and user support.
  • IT Project Participation: Experience in participating in IT enhancement projects with a focus on improving system performance and reliability.
  • Effective IT Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively explaining technical issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Teamwork in IT Operations: Proven ability to work collaboratively within IT teams, fostering strong relationships to enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Analytical and Operational Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a focus on swiftly addressing and resolving IT issues.
  • Support in IT Operations and Strategy: Ability to assist in the strategic aspects of IT operations, providing insights and recommendations to optimize system management and user support activities.
