Department (OC) Office of ScienceJob Description: Responsibilities Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Research Scientist III to work within the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), Office of Science and Technology in the Health, Wealth & Wellbeing Unit. The incumbent will lead the planning, development, and implementation of the research and applied epidemiology analysis activities examining relationships among socioeconomic conditions, population health outcomes, and overall wellbeing, assessment, and evaluation activities that demonstrate how increased wealth improves health outcomes and general wellbeing. This position focuses on assessing community-based economic and public health initiatives and analyzing their association with population health indicators and related outcomes. This position focuses on examining and assessing community wealth building initiatives and their impact on social determinants of health, and health disparities. Specific duties will include developing comprehensive evaluation and analysis plans, including methodologies and algorithms for measuring health, economic, demographic, and community-level indicators; assessing the impact of unit programming on community health and economic indicators such as wealth; identifying, obtaining, and managing datasets; developing surveys for data collection; building and validating relevant measures; producing reports, publications, and presentations summarizing findings; collaborating with NYSDOH partners to support analytical projects; and providing technical guidance to staff. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, a related social science, or a closely related field and four years of research experience; OR a Master's degree in a related field and three years of research experience; OR a Doctorate degree in a related field and one year of research experience. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Travel up to 25% of the time will be required. The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a combination of onsite and remote work. This position may require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays. Work Location Expectations At HRI, the nature of hybrid and onsite work varies by position. Some roles require full onsite presence, while others allow a hybrid schedule. Managers determine the specific telecommuting expectations for each role based on operational needs and job responsibilities.
