About the Job

The University of Minnesota Athletics Department is in search of an Assistant Track & Field Coach for a 12-month Full-Time position.

The Assistant Coach is expected to work closely with the Coaching staff and all other stakeholders within our program and the department. They are expected to promote and uphold the behaviors and values that drive our culture and demonstrate a significant capacity for work. They should be committed to student-athlete (SA) development on the track, in the classroom and in life. They should be committed to the process of improvement and be a person of character and integrity. They should also assist in advancing the strategic plan's vision, commitments and actions including equity and diversity.

The following is a general description of Assistant Coach duties and responsibilities:

Coaching and teaching (30%)

  • Assist head coach in all aspects of developing and maintaining a competitive intercollegiate sport program within the NCAA and Big Ten Conference
  • Provide practice planning and technical instruction
  • Would Coach: Long Jump-Triple Jump-High Jump-Pole Vault-Multi-Events, Assist with Sprints & Hurdles

Recruiting (40%)

  • Assist with all recruiting coordination
  • Maintain off and on campus recruitment
  • Know and adhere to all rules and regulations of the Athletic Department, University, B1G and NCAA.

Administration (20%)

  • Assist in all day to day operations of the program
  • Participate in departmental activities as required

Other duties assigned by the head coach (10%)

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Collegiate Coaching Experience in events listed
  • Valid Driver's License

With more than 140 years of tradition, Gopher Athletics is one of the oldest and most decorated athletics departments in the country. Minnesota was a charter member of the Big Ten Conference. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $48,000-49,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff
