At HDR, our employee-owners are fully engaged in creating a welcoming environment where each of us is valued and respected, a place where everyone is empowered to bring their authentic selves and novel ideas to work every day. As we foster a culture of inclusion throughout our company and within our communities, we constantly ask ourselves: What is our impact on the world? We believe water is more than a resource, it's a shared responsibility. As part of our Water Business Group, you'll help shape how communities manage water for generations to come. From delivering safe drinking water and treating wastewater responsibly to developing sustainable water supplies and protecting lives and property through flood control, your work will directly support public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience. We bring together experts across disciplines to solve complex challenges with bold thinking and technical excellence. Whether you're modernizing aging systems or pioneering innovative approaches, your contributions will make a meaningful difference in people's lives. This isn't just a job, it's a chance to lead change, drive progress, and leave a lasting legacy. SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The duties of a Business Class Director (BCD) include responsibilities for company-wide development, coordination, monitoring, and improvement of technical competencies of business class staff, products, and services to meet client needs, response to market drivers, and risk management across HDR. Business Class Directors support the needs of all Market Sectors, Business Groups, and geographic regions, as appropriate to their areas of practice, expertise, and focus. Specifically, the Pump Stations and Pipelines (PS&PL) Business Class Director is responsible for the direction, coordination, and quality of work for the pump stations, pipeline and tunneling design programs within HDR. Responsibilities include building close working relationships with related business classes, market sectors, business groups and operations. The PS&PL BCD will provide risk management on projects with technical complexity. The position will participate in and provide oversight of a variety of project types including planning, design, construction, and full lifecycle services for pump stations, design of pipelines, and management/oversight of water bearing tunnel projects and subconsultant design activities for water bearing tunnel projects. The position will build and maintain the industry presence, reputation, and participation in professional organizations to raise the profile of the practice. As part of these duties, the Business Class Director participates in client management, participates in proposal and project development and is an active member of professional organizations. The BCD will mentor and direct Business Class leaders that help manage and execute the mission of the business class. The BCD may be required to execute certain responsibilities and actions according to the HDR Matrix of Authority (MOA) including risk-focused reviews of technical and project elements. The selected individual may be asked to work closely with HDR legal, project managers, business group managers and area managers in reviewing go/no go decisions, SOWs, Contracts, and project pricing - especially for projects and activities relating to water conveyance tunnels.
