DESCRIPTION

The mission of Student Affairs and Campus Life is to foster the well-being and development of students as whole persons, complementing and enhancing their learning skills through programs and creative experiences that prepare them for leadership, service and professional roles in a diverse, global community. Serving nearly 46,000 graduate and undergraduate students, Student Affairs and Campus Life is a diverse organization with a budget of $100 million and a staff of 350 career employees. It is a division composed of Campus Life, Student Affairs, Global Initiatives, Finance & Operations, ArtsConnect and Activation, Recreation and Athletics. Student Affairs and Campus Life works collaboratively and in partnership with Graduate Education and Post-Doctoral Affairs Division, eight undergraduate Colleges, the Teaching + Learning Commons, Organizational Transformation, Residential, Retail and Supply Chain Services, Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Health Sciences, Alumni Services, Extended Studies, the Academic Schools and the broader San Diego and global community.

Under the direction of the Director of VCSACL Resource Planning, the Resource Planning Consultant will serve as an organizational development professional and partners with leaders to assist in shaping strategic resource planning and initiatives for the division. Working within a multidisciplinary team that includes an Institutional Research Analyst (assessment & evaluation) and a Business Intelligence Specialist, the incumbent supports the division to utilize actionable data into recommendations for leadership and units.

The Resource Planning Consultant may directly influence how the Division of Student Affairs allocates staff, budget, and programmatic resources, ensuring that strategic initiatives are grounded in robust data, best-practice organizational development methods, and a commitment to equitable student outcomes. By bridging the gap between analytics and organizational change, the consultant helps the division achieve its mission of student success, well-being, and campus vitality.

As a member of a consulting team, uses and applies professional organizational development and effectiveness concepts in small and medium-size intact groups, units and departments. Works on organizational consulting issues of limited to moderate scope, where analysis of situations requires a review of a variety of factors. Contact with others is primarily internal. Normally receives detailed instructions on work assignments. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations. Uses organizational development concepts. Applies organization policies and procedures to resolve a variety of organizational development issues. Works on organizational problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field; Master's preferred but not required.

  • Has basic knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field. Provides meaningful learning opportunities such as micro-learning modules, skill-building activities, and reflective debriefs that support continuous improvement

  • Demonstrates analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Is beginning to apply organizational development and effectiveness concepts and skills.

  • Have effective verbal and written communication skills. Drafts concise written briefings, executive presentations, and verbal updates that adapt tone and detail to the needs of diverse audiences,

  • Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained.

  • Demonstrates interpersonal agility, the ability to build collaborative relationships, works comfortably with individuals at all organizational levels cultivating trust and engagement.

  • Adapt to evolving priorities, quickly re-prioritizes tasks when division-wide initiatives shift, ensuring efforts remain aligned with current goals.

  • Maintain confidentiality & equity focus, handles sensitive information in accordance with UC San Diego privacy policies and embeds an equity lens in all analyses and recommendations.

  • Demonstrates the change-management mindset, applies change-management principles to help units navigate transitions, anticipate resistance, and sustain adoption of new processes.

  • Ability to collaborate with team members and contribute data-informed insights into division-wide resource-planning.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $71,600 - $127,400 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $34.29 - $61.02

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
