KPMG is currently seeking an Assistant Counsel to join KPMGs Office of General Counsel, Litigation and Investigations Group.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a member of the internal investigations team within the Office of General Counsels Litigation and Investigations Group, responsible for executing internal investigations, supporting team priorities and contributing to consistent practices and quality outcomes; this role is primarily hands-on, with opportunities to build leadership skills through mentoring, training support and managing discrete workstreams
  • Execute Internal Investigations Priorities; support execution of internal investigations strategy through effective case management and timely delivery of work; identify potential issues or risks within internal investigations and escalate appropriately; perform key components of internal investigations, including document review, data analysis, interviews and drafting reports; manage discrete internal investigations or workstreams under the supervision of senior team members; ensure work is thorough, accurate and aligned with Firm standards of excellence
  • Support Team and Capability Development; provide day-to-day support to junior team members, including knowledge sharing and informal guidance; contribute to a collaborative and high-quality team environment
  • Support Training and Awareness Efforts; assist in the delivery and coordination of training sessions on investigative practices and risk awareness; reinforce awareness of reporting channels and escalation protocols within the Firm
  • Support Reporting and Documentation and Contribute to Process and Operational Improvements; draft clear, concise investigative summaries, reports and supporting materials; maintain accurate documentation and case files in accordance with established standards; identify opportunities to improve processes, tools and consistency in investigations work; support implementation of enhancements to methodologies and documentation practices
  • Support External and Sensitive Matters; assist with preparation for interactions with regulators or external parties, as needed; ensure work aligns with legal, regulatory and Firm expectations
Qualifications:
  • Minimum three years of recent experience in investigations, litigation, or related work in a law firm, corporate, or government environment
  • J.D. and/or LL.M. from an accredited law school; Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university; licensed to practice law in the U.S
  • Experience supporting or conducting investigations or complex analytical work and demonstrated professionalism with critical thinking in handling sensitive matters
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple assignments with attention to detail and quality
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience collaborating within teams and contributing to shared outcomes

California Salary Range: $153000 - $297000
