THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on supporting youth ages 14 to 21 who have been in foster care or similar placements as they prepare for independent adulthood. The role requires flexibility, strong communication, and a commitment to helping youth build life skills. As a County Caseworker 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Intake and Assessment: Conduct intake meetings and assess youth needs to determine the level of support required
  • Skill Development Support: Guide youth in building independent living skills such as financial management, housing readiness, and life planning
  • Advocacy and Mentoring: Advocate for youth access to services while providing mentoring and steady encouragement
  • Service Coordination: Connect youth with educational, vocational, and community resources to promote long term stability
  • Crisis Response: Respond to after hours or weekend needs when urgent support or intervention is required

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
