About Duke Raleigh Hospital, A Campus of Duke University Hospital

Occupational Summary

As a memeber of the pharmacy leadership team, this manager is responsible for the oversight of compounding and preparation of sterile medication products, clinical review of ambulatory medication orders, and management of multi-site clinc and infusion services. this manager has a varied responsibilites, some of which are denoted below.


Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

  • Managment of all aspects of day to day activities of the pharmacy infusion operations in Wake County Infusion Clinics.
  • Responsible for scheduling, technology oversight, and inventory management to ensure safe and acurate sterile medication preparation.
  • Responible for the supervision of team members, which consist of pharmacy technicians and pharmacists, and ensures appropriate training of stadd in their job functions.
  • Responsible for clinical review of ambulatory oncology and supportive care orders and associated verification.
  • Provides pharmacy staffing coverage in infusion pharmacies, as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with nursing staff, supply chain, peers, and other healthcare professionals to achieve division, departmental, and institutional goals.
  • Coordinates division staff meetings, and ensures timely dissemination of information to staff through multiple avenues.
  • Ensures that division services and practices are in line with established policies and procedures, and assess compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g. TJC, BOP, DEA, USP), and best practice recommendations (e.g. ISMP).
  • Assists with Human Resources relevant matters, including, recruiting, promotion, retention and discipline.
  • Takes responsibility for personal and professional growth. Maintains relevant knowledge of regulations regarding sterile medication compounding, including updates to USP <797> and <800>.
  • Represents and supports the pharmacy department's commitment to excellence through active participation on intra- and interdepartmental committees and teams.
  • Engages in educational activities, such as precepting of students and residents.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Microsoft Office; Effective writing and communication; Data collection and analysis; personnel management experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy required.
  • MBA or MS in Health System Pharmacy preferred.



Experience

  • Three years' experience as a pharmacist.
  • Experience in ambulatory oncology infusion strongly preferred.
  • Management experience, health-system pharmacy administration and leadership residency, or equivalent post-graduate training preferred.
  • Board certification in Oncology Pharmacy preferred.



Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy.
  • Licensed as a Pharmacist by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
