Job Summary

The Global Merchant is responsible for developing and executing merchandising strategies for assigned apparel product categories. This role drives global product strategy, assortment planning, and seasonal line development by leveraging consumer insights, market trends, and business performance data. The Global Merchant collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver consumer-focused assortments, optimize product performance, and achieve financial and brand objectives.

Job Responsibilities



  • Develop and execute global merchandising strategies for assigned apparel categories.
  • Lead seasonal assortment planning by creating balanced product offerings across styles, fits, price points, and regional market needs.
  • Analyze historical sales performance, market trends, consumer insights, and competitive activity to inform merchandising decisions.
  • Partner with Design and Product Development teams to create consumer-focused products that align with brand objectives.
  • Maintain accurate product information and ensure data integrity within merchandising systems.
  • Collaborate with regional merchandising teams to understand local market needs and incorporate feedback into global assortments.
  • Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities for product innovation and assortment optimization.
  • Prepare and present merchandising performance updates, sales analysis, and business recommendations during monthly and quarterly business reviews.
  • Communicate product performance insights and recommendations to cross-functional partners.
  • Build strong working relationships with Planning, Marketing, Design, Product Development, and Merchandising teams to ensure successful product execution.
  • Demonstrate initiative by identifying opportunities to improve merchandising strategies and business performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of 5 years of direct merchandising experience with an apparel manufacturer, retailer, or consumer products company required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of merchandising strategy, assortment planning, and seasonal line development.
  • Experience analyzing sales performance, consumer insights, market trends, and competitive data.
  • Strong understanding of apparel merchandising and product lifecycle management.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with merchandising systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field preferred.


Work Experience



  • Minimum of 5 years of direct merchandising experience with an apparel manufacturer, retailer, or consumer products company required.
