Why This Role Matters

The Lead Worker - Janitor provides support, assistance, and guidance to individuals with significant disabilities to help develop work skills, while assisting with the direction, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of cleaning crews. This position supports the Project Manager in executing janitorial plans, performs janitorial tasks at the Perry Point site in accordance with contract guidelines, and provides ongoing training and support to staff on standard operating procedures and safe operation of equipment, supporting growth and upward mobility within Didlake's organization.

What You Will Do

Custodial Services and Maintenance Duties



  • Cleans hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevator banks, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
  • Cleans floors using brooms, mops, and powered cleaning machines.
  • Polishes metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
  • Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Empties wastebaskets.
  • Replenishes janitor closets.
  • Sets an example through dependability, hard work, strong business ethics, and personal appearance.


Supervision and Coordination



  • Assigns tasks and issues supplies and equipment to employees and inspects completed work for conformance to standards.
  • Requisitions supplies and equipment from Supervisor, APM, or PM.
  • Trains employees on how to do assigned work and in using equipment and supplies appropriately.
  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems of employees and customers; refers to supervisor as deemed necessary.


Operational Support



  • Fills in for general cleaning staff as needed.
  • Operates power equipment such as two-stage snow blowers.
  • When specified in the contract, during inclement weather, providing proper upkeep by removing snow from walkways, building entrances and dock ramps, and spreading snow/ice melting chemicals.


Training and Compliance



  • Completes and maintains all Didlake required training.
  • Responsible for appropriate conduct, demeanor, and decorum as dictated by Didlake Policy.
  • Responsible for working with a positive team spirit and producing quality work.
  • Responsible for following safety standards and guidelines in the proper use of the equipment and other activities.
