POSITION SCOPE

The Paving Foreman manages the daily operations of a paving crew, including scheduling, safety, quality, and personnel. They are responsible for ensuring that paving projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the specifications of the contract.

Paving Foremen should have strong leadership skills, be able to work well in a team, and have excellent communication skills. They should also be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and be physically fit enough to stand, walk, climb, and exert force.

This position is based in Arizona and requires travel to job sites.

PRIMARY DUTIES



  • Manage the process of laying asphalt
  • Monitor quality of paving
  • Perform quality checks at the job site and ensure that the work meets quality standards
  • Create a work plan and schedule for each phase of the project. This includes determining the staff and supplies needed, and mapping out a timeline
  • Operate and maintain equipment daily
  • Lead and direct the paving crew, ensuring they are working safely and efficiently. This may also include training and mentoring the crew
  • Ensure that the work environment is safe for the crew, and enforce safety and environmental policies
  • Complete paperwork and reports, including timesheets, quality control checklists, and accident reports
  • Supervise paving operations and manages paving crew
  • Assist with manual labor as needed
  • Operate construction equipment as needed, and assist with relocating equipment to job sites
  • Perform all duties within safety guidelines set up by M.S.H.A. and company policy
  • Perform other duties as assigned


REQUIREMENTS



  • Must hold an M.S.H.A. 5000-23 certificate
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as Paving Foreman
  • Ability to pass drug test and physical
  • Clean driving record/valid drivers' license (Class A license a plus)
  • Able to operate equipment efficiently to maintain project specifications
  • Willing to work in a team environment
  • Mechanical knowledge of equipment and being able to perform routine maintenance
  • Must have supervisory skills handling crews ranging from 6-10 people
  • Must maintain high quality workmanship
  • Must be capable and proficient interacting with asphalt plants-ability to achieve accurate AC cut-offs
  • Must be capable and proficient interacting with trucking subcontractors and other miscellaneous subs
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment
  • Excellent stamina
  • Ability to travel for work during the week or weekend when needed
  • Able to work weekends when needed
