Overview
The position requires a highly organized, goal-oriented leader who will be responsible for operations leadership, business development, and driving solutions in our technical work along with our regional technical teams. This person will work closely with the Regional Operations Managers and Building Solutions Leadership to achieve sustainable and profitable regional growth while providing a high level of technical leadership. The primary services this position will be responsible for is Commissioning, Retro-Commissioning, Monitoring Based Commissioning, Energy Auditing, and Facility Condition Assessments. A specific strategic focus shall be a sustained expansion of these services within existing buildings in the western part of the United States. Success in this role includes effectively leveraging and developing existing team talent, strengthening client relationships, and enhancing the region's presence through communication, industry engagement, and leadership visibility.
Responsibilities
The following duties are typical of the position but are not all-encompassing. Each person is expected to provide support in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality service, both on schedule and within budget. Operations Leadership
Successfully develop and lead a group of up to fifteen (15) people with a focus on the greater Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Southern California geographical markets.
- Ensure that regional P&L objectives are achieved by overseeing the successful management and delivery of project services.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) monthly to include, but not limited to budget compliance, utilization, revenue, project multiplier/profitability, WIP, accounts receivable, etc.
- Develop strategic plans for the Western Region and support Leadership with the annual planning and budgeting process.
- Identify and develop high-potential team members to strengthen leadership capacity and long-term regional performance.
Business Development
- Research the latest in the business industry and create new opportunities to expand business. Develop a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction. Drive regional growth by supporting strategic pursuits, strengthening existing client relationships, and positioning the team for successful contract execution.
- Maintain industry reputation by always conducting business in a courteous and professional manner. Build relationships through networking to cultivate effective relationships with clients.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of proposals and contracts by developing project approach, scope of services and budgets based on similar project experience and historical budgeting information and by speaking at client interviews regarding project management issues. This also includes negotiating fees to perform projects of a certain scope, reviewing and approving written proposal documents, and obtaining authorized signatures on contracts.
- Participate in consultant selection interview preparation and rehearsals. Participate in inter-geography pursuits as appropriate.
- Train technical staff to improve retention/repeat clients.
- Prepare and present progress, forecasts, and budget reports to Leadership.
- Enhance regional visibility through participation in industry events, client presentations, and thought leadership opportunities.
- Ability to influence and position teams in strategic pursuits through leadership presence, communication, and client engagement.
Technical
- Responsible for project planning and managing schedules and budgets to complete work on time and profitably; plays major role in conceptualizing design and overseeing all aspects of the project, including reviewing work of interdisciplinary team to secure and successfully manage projects through demonstrated technical and managerial skills.
- Responsible for ensuring effective delivery of Building Solutions services through appropriate team leadership and technical oversight. Define staffing needs for the Principal Engineers for specific projects and coordinate staff assignments with the Principal Engineers to ensure optimal utilization of staff and timely delivery of high-quality products and services.
- Review individual project workloads, deadlines, budgets, and requirements with the responsible engineers; ensure quality standards, schedules, and deadlines are met; strive to complete the project to the full satisfaction of the client and within the established budget and schedule.
- Review and analyze data and prepare technical reports and provide comments.
- Apply organizational and management expertise to unique and complex projects and can effectively diagnose problems, prepare courses of action, and implement the course of action to provide an appropriate solution or resolution to the problem.
- Works independently with minimal direction or supervision through demonstrated success with similar project responsibilities.

Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience: Experience, Education, and Professional Standing
- For this specific role, the individual must have direct experience in the sales and delivery of services in the facility design, construction, and commissioning industry.
- Experience building and scaling teams, service lines, or business units within the built environment is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with quality standards and applicable codes and governing authorities is required. Experience in starting up and operating building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems is essential. This role requires experience with quality assurance checks in order to uphold high internal and external quality standards. This position also requires the ability to view projects and problems from a high level in order to provide clients with the best quality suggestions or solutions.
- Graduate from an engineering curriculum accredited by ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years' experience commissioning, retro-commissioning and energy auditing, managing projects independently, with a thorough understanding of the principles of the building systems operation.
- Professional Engineer preferred.
- Commissioning certification considered a plus.
- Experience in healthcare, life sciences, data centers, higher education and complex building environments preferred.
- The applicant should be a US citizen and should be able to acquire a security clearance sponsored by the company if required.
- Regional travel anticipated: 20-30%.

- Must be highly proficient in MS Office and standard business and technical software tools.
- Knowledgeable in industry software such as BAS Control System and Fault Detection and Diagnostics (e.g. SkySpark).
- Experience in accounting software (e.g. Deltek Vantagepoint), construction management software (e.g. Procore, BIM 360, e-Builder) and commissioning software (e.g. CxAlloy).
- Demonstrated ability to represent the organization in client-facing and industry settings, including presentations, speaking engagements, or thought leadership.
