job purpose:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer continuously evaluates the plant machines for reliability and effectiveness. In fulfilling this role, the Senior Mechanical Engineer works closely with engineering team department members, maintenance, and operations. They provide day-to-day technical support on all aspects of plant machine center operations. The Senior Mechanical Engineer works with maintenance planning and operations to plan and schedule all preventative and predictive maintenance for machines as needed. They will act as plant liaison for new system start up and commissioning by all outside controls contractors and system integrators to ensure proper transfer of documented PLC program changes, manuals, and adequate training on the installation/changes that have been completed.

responsibilities:



  • Perform design of experiments(DOE)to redesign systems creating chronic issues and developsustainablesolutions.


  • Maintain and update all documentation formachine centers, as needed(Schematics, manuals, PI&D).


  • Source parts through schematics, spare partsmanual,and parts attendant.


  • Make recommendations on spare parts for internal inventory.


  • Create work ordersand PM'sthrough D365 and add all parts required for the scope of work to be performed.


  • Help coordinate and facilitate thescheduling of overhauls.


  • Drive process improvements and present to the Engineering Department.


  • Schedule downtime repairs with packaging,maintenance,and project manager/supervisors.


  • WorktogetherwithOperationsand utilize all resources to eliminate downtime.


  • Demonstrate leadership skills by teachingtechnicianswith how to performtechnicianPM's


  • Participates in plant safety,health,and environmental programs.


  • Driveimprovements through the CI processes and playbook that Goodyear has established.


  • Closely collaborate withthe manufacturingand engineering team to clearly defineengineeringacceptance standards and specifications based on the voice ofthe customer.


  • Validate and characterize new processes, equipment and fixtures for production implementation focused on damage-free.


  • Create detailed manufacturing instructions to documentengineeringcritical characteristics.


  • Collaborate with the Quality,Manufacturingand MaintenanceManagers to reduce and eliminatedowntimecontained on the single agenda.


  • Perform BDA and RCA's for issues that arise from the production floor.


  • Incorporate Lean Manufacturing best practices and working in a culture focused on continuous improvement.


  • DriveGMP and 5S initiatives.


  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills withcognitive actions.


  • Able to understand and utilize engineering drawings, operating manuals, and blueprints to conduct business.


  • Ability to launch and drive large capital projectsfrom design recommendations to complete ownership.


  • Drive Mean Time Before Failure(MTBF)to be best in class.


  • Dive Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) to be best in class.


  • Other duties may be assigned.



skills/qualifications required:



  • Bachelor's degree inMechanicalEngineeringoranotherrelated field.


  • High speed manufacturing,dairy processing,and packaging.


  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt accreditationa plus.



working conditions:



  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: Stands,walks,and sits during completion of job responsibilities.


  • Lifting/Carrying: Occasional lifting requirements as job demands. Must be able to lift a minimum of50 lbs. on an occasional basis.


  • Abilityto work in afast-pacedhigh demand production facilities and the ability to be able to perform those duties.

  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.

  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.


  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.


  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconformingproductsin terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.


  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
