The Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University (
GWSPH) is seeking a Communications Specialist position to assist in managing communication for the school. This is a senior level position that will be responsible for communication and marketing for a large and unique portfolio. The Communications Specialist will partner with the Dean and members of the executive leadership team, as well as, with the University's central communications team.
This position will be primarily responsible for assisting with the development and execution of the strategic communication and marketing plan for
GWSPH and will ensure consistent communication with GWSPH's desired image, brand and positioning throughout all communications.
Responsibilities Includes:
- Develop and drive communications that engage and inspire faculty, staff and students at GWSPH.
- Ensure clear and cohesive messaging and branding across various online and print platforms.
- Organize and maintain the GWSPH intranet for the purpose of information sharing and archives.
- Experiment with new, creative ways to reach key internal stakeholders with the news and information they care about, and drive their engagement in prioritized School/University initiatives.
- Support weekly e-newsletters for faculty, staff and students and content for digital signage screens at the school.
- Help manage the school's website content, ensuring information is current and accurately reflects school initiatives and achievements.
- Create invitation content, event signage, and content for internal/departmental events.
- Work closely with admissions, recruitment, college-to-career programs, and Development to produce cohesive marketing materials such as letterhead and business cards.
- Collaborate with department leads to produce social media content that aligns with overall strategy and deliver daily.
- Research, write, edit, and publish internal communications with an obsession for quality and accuracy.
- Manage the development, maintenance, updating various communication channels across the school.
- Maintain and enhance an online presence catering to diverse audiences, including prospective students, prospective employees, alumni, donors and the community at large.
- Serve as a trusted internal communications partner and strategic advisor for Communications and Marketing, Office of the Dean, GWSPH Operations and Development.
- Routinely measure and report out to stakeholders regarding the impact of internal communications.
- Curate and organize a photo library for future use in various publications.
- Capture photos at smaller events and document day-to-day program activities through periodic photo shoots.
- Coordinate with hired photographers as needed.

| Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |
