Director of Financial Planning and Analysis

Alliance Technical Group
United States, Texas, Houston
6001 Savoy Drive (Show on map)
Jul 06, 2026
Description

Alliance Technical Group ("ATG") a Blackstone-backed environmental compliance, testing, and monitoring platform operating 60+ locations across North America - and building the finance organization to match its growth ambitions. This is not a reporting role. It is the role a high-performing FP&A leader takes when they want to build the operating rigor of a high caliber finance function inside a fast-moving, private-equity-backed platform, with direct exposure to the CFO, the CEO, business unit presidents, and the Blackstone deal team.

The Director of FP&A will own the numbers that drive every major decision at ATG - the budget, the forecast, the M&A integration model, and the monthly narrative to the Board. You will build the disciplines - zero-based budgeting, rolling forecasts, variance-to-plan accountability, deal-to-close acquisition tracking - that turn a good platform into a great one, and that get noticed by the sponsor. For someone who wants a credible, fast path to a CFO seat, few roles offer this much surface area this early.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

  • The Annual Operating Plan. Lead the enterprise-wide budget process end to end - partnering directly with each business unit president and the commercial organization to build a bottoms-up plan that is aggressive, defensible, and owned by the people accountable for it, not imposed on them.
  • Business Unit Accountability. Sit with operators and the commercial team, not just spreadsheets. Build the monthly performance packages and flash reporting that drive real accountability conversations with business unit leadership - and build the credibility to challenge a number in the room.
  • The Forecast. Own the rolling revenue and EBITDA forecast, converting operating signals from the field into a forward view the CFO and Board can trust - with the rigor to flag risk early and the judgment to separate noise from signal.
  • The FP&A Discipline. Build (not just run) the systems, models, and management operating rhythm - including NetSuite Planning & Budgeting - that scale with the platform through its next phase of growth and eventual exit.
  • M&A, from Diligence to Integration. Partner with Corporate Development on acquisition modeling and own the process of integrating closed deals into ATG's financial reporting and forecast - tracking actual performance against the deal thesis and holding it accountable.
  • The CFO Partnership. Serve as a direct partner and thought-connector to the CFO in a high-velocity, sponsor-driven environment - translating Blackstone-level questions into an operating cadence the business can execute against, and translating field results into a story the sponsor believes.
  • The Team. Manage a team of 4 professionals. Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of FP&A professionals into the next generation of finance leaders - the same way the best FP&A organizations turn analysts into operators.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YEAR ONE

  • A budget process business unit leaders trust because they built it - not one finance handed down.
  • A rolling forecast with a track record tight enough that the CEO takes it into the boardroom unedited.
  • A reputation, inside ATG and with Blackstone, as the person who knows the numbers cold and says so plainly.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 10+ years of progressive FP&A, investment banking, consulting, or corporate development experience, ideally with time inside a private equity-backed or high-growth platform.
  • A track record of owning a budget or forecast process end to end - not just contributing to one.
  • Financial modeling and analytical instincts sharp enough to build the model, and business judgment sharp enough to know when to challenge it.
  • The presence and communication skill to hold a room of business unit presidents accountable - and to brief a CFO or PE sponsor with equal confidence.
  • Experience managing and developing a team; you should want to build FP&A talent, not just consume it.
  • Advanced Excel fluency; NetSuite and NetSuite Planning & Budgeting experience is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; MBA preferred.

WHY ATG

This role sits at the center of a growth story - organic and acquired - backed by one of the world's most disciplined sponsors. You will have the CFO's ear, the Board's attention, and the mandate to build a finance function with real teeth. For a candidate who wants ownership, velocity, and a direct line to the next CFO seat, this is that role.
