Overview

The University Chaplaincy is a dynamic hub supporting religious, spiritual, ethical, and cultural life for all members of the Tufts community on all of Tufts' campuses. The Office provides spiritual care, supports religious and philosophical communities, educates about spiritual and ethical issues in society and the world, and promotes multifaith engagement. Reporting to the President, the University Chaplain leads the team, which includes seven Associate University Chaplains; three administrative, program, and music staff; as well as student workers and leaders. The University Chaplaincy works with 15+ campus religious and philosophical communities that offer over many weekly gatherings and special programs. Beyond its work supporting these communities, the University Chaplaincy offers multifaith programming and services for the whole University. Its staff serve as liaisons to various departments and schools and are members of various University committees related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, campus life, and mental health and wellness. The department also manages the care and use of Goddard Chapel and the Interfaith Center.

What You'll Do

This is a 6-month limited term position.
Reporting to Associate Director of Programs, the Program Coordinator supports specific programs, services, and outreach efforts related to Buddhist and Hindu Life. Such support includes assigned tasks and responsibilities and, depending upon the program, may include collaborative leadership and program design with other University Chaplaincy staff, student leaders, and student staff workers.
  • Provides operational support, program design, and coordination for University Chaplaincy programs related to Hindu and Buddhist Life for both undergraduate and graduate communities
    • Coordinates schedule for guest leaders for weekly meditation and other programs
    • Coordinates both the Buddhist and Hindu Spirituality Series for Fall 2026
    • Partners with student organizations (Tufts Buddhist Mindfulness Sangha, Graduate TBMS, Hindu Student Association and Graduate HSA) to offer dynamic and diverse programs and campus events
    • Maintains and promotes use of Buddhist and Hindu Shrine Room at the Interfaith Center
    • Maintains regular communication outlets with the Buddhist and Hindu communities, including overseeing social media and weekly newsletters
  • Participates in team meetings and collaborates with University Chaplaincy staff on interfaith initiatives, including support for Graduate Interfaith programs.
  • May provide on-site support for special events (e.g. Commencement Weekend, Reunion Weekend, private ceremonies)

What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
  • Associate's Degree
  • 1 year university programming experience or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Understanding of the mission and vision of the University Chaplaincy
  • Experience working in multifaith environments

Pay Range

Minimum $27.85, Midpoint $33.15, Maximum $38.50

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
