Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Performs routine repairs and preventative maintenance inspections/calibrations on a broad range of electromechanical medical equipment. Independently services complex medical device systems and high-risk equipment in high acuity clinical areas. Mentors junior staff in these responsibilities, and manages vendors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently services complex medical device systems, including complex high-risk equipment in high acuity clinical areas (e.g., Operating Room, Respiratory Therapy, Intensive Care Units, Radiology, and Procedural Areas).
  • Works collaboratively with Information Services Department and other support service departments to manage integrated medical systems
  • Understands medical device regulation and ensures assigned medical devices are managed in compliance with those regulations.
  • Participates in inspection tours of clinical and/or research areas using medical equipment.
  • Documents all service actions and complies with documentation guidelines and metrics defined in department policy.
  • Actively engages in troubleshooting complex medical devices/integrated systems. Collaboration includes working directly with internal Hospital staff as well as other service providers.
  • Manages vendors that serve the Hospital and medical devices, including device manufacturers and third-party vendors. Appropriately determines vendor engagement and ensures that all vendors are complying with department and hospital policy and regulations.
  • Independently performs special tasks and projects such as technology conversions, hardware/software upgrades, etc.
  • Mentors junior members of Health Technology Management (HTM) in technology, clinical care units, and customer service. May lead a team of technical staff in projects and tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Associate's Degree is required.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience is required.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
