Senior Manager of Electrical Engineering (Power Systems & Substations)

Location: Fontana, CA

Compensation: $170,000-$190,000 + 15% annual bonus

We are seeking a direct hire Senior Manager, Electrical Engineering to lead high-impact programs focused on power distribution, substation systems, switchgear, and protection & control solutions. This role is ideal for an experienced leader with strong technical expertise and a track record of driving engineering excellence in utility or industrial power environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers and test technicians
• Drive engineering strategy, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Oversee design, development, testing, and validation of substations, transformers, switchgear, and relay/control systems
• Ensure compliance with ANSI, IEEE, NEC, and industry standards
• Partner with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, project management, mechanical engineering) to ensure design for manufacturability
• Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for complex engineering programs
• Support customer engagements and provide technical leadership on critical initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience, including 5+ years in leadership
• Expertise in power systems analysis, protection & control, and medium/low voltage systems
• Proven experience managing engineering teams and large-scale projects
• Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and electrical design practices
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred

• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Experience with substation control buildings or E-House solutions
