Content Writer/Marketing Specialist

summary
- support a growing marketing + branding function by producing clear, accurate, client-ready written materials across thought leadership, newsletters, pr-style content, and long-form collateral.
- the focus is strong writing fundamentals, clean structure, and the ability to translate complex topics into approachable, compliant messaging for a professional audience.
key responsibilities
thought leadership and commentary
- research and draft market/industry commentary for external publication channels (including investor/market commentary-style platforms).
- transform raw notes, outlines, and subject-matter input into polished articles with a consistent brand voice.
- propose topics, angles, and headlines based on current events, seasonal themes, and campaign priorities.
newsletters and recurring communications
- write and edit weekly (or scheduled) newsletters, including subject lines, teaser copy, and clear calls-to-action.
- collaborate on content calendars, ensuring on-time delivery and consistent formatting.
- maintain version control and manage approvals/edits from multiple stakeholders.
whitepapers and long-form collateral
- outline, write, and edit whitepapers and educational guides aligned to business priorities.
- structure content for scannability (executive summaries, headings, bullets, charts/tables callouts, takeaways).
- partner with internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across sections and supporting assets.
pr and brand writing
- draft press-release-style announcements, media pitches, brand statements, bios, and website/marketing copy as needed.
- refine messaging for tone, clarity, and audience fit while maintaining brand standards.
- support basic brand narrative work (positioning, messaging themes, value proposition copy) in collaboration with marketing leadership.
editing, quality, and compliance support
- proofread for grammar, punctuation, readability, and consistency (style guide adherence).
- fact-check names, titles, dates, and claims; flag anything that needs verification.
- support review workflows and incorporate feedback quickly while protecting clarity and voice.
- follow internal guidelines for regulated/professional communications (use approved language, avoid unsubstantiated claims, apply required disclaimers when directed).
collaboration and workflow
- work closely with marketing leadership and internal subject-matter experts to gather inputs and approvals.
- participate in editorial planning (content calendar, campaign support, distribution dates).
- coordinate with design and/or digital teammates to ensure copy aligns with layout, email templates, and web formatting.
- manage multiple concurrent deadlines with a clear system for priorities, drafts, and final approvals.
required skills and qualifications
- exceptional writing fundamentals: clarity, organization, tone control, and attention to detail.
- strong editing skills: ability to tighten copy, improve flow, and maintain a consistent voice.
- research capability: synthesizing complex topics into accurate, easy-to-digest content.
- ability to take direction and incorporate feedback rapidly (including from non-writers).
- comfort working in an on-site environment and collaborating cross-functionally.
- proficiency with common writing tools (microsoft word / google docs) and organized file management.
preferred (nice to have)
- familiarity with financial services, investing, wealth management, or similarly regulated/professional industries.
- experience writing thought leadership, newsletters, or long-form educational content.
- basic seo and digital content formatting experience (headlines, meta descriptions, web-friendly structure).
- experience working with content calendars, simple project tracking, and approval workflows.
