Job Description

The Sr. Director; Software Engineering leads the development and delivery of software solutions that address complex business challenges and enhance user experience. This role is responsible for overseeing the Payment Products Development team, ensuring the creation of high-quality products and features from initial concept through final deployment. The Sr. Director is expected to drive innovation, adaptability, and readiness to respond to evolving team requirements, while maintaining accountability for release deployments and post-deployment support.

All roles require digital fluency, including the ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools (e.g. Claude Code, Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday work.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead teams in the the development of Visa Issuing Solutions products
  • Deliver high-quality products and features, managing the process from idea to final delivery, including design, development, testing, and release deployment.
  • Ensure timely delivery of assigned modules within an agile team setting.
  • Accurately scope efforts, identify risks, and communicate trade-offs with team members and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and participate in Continuous Integration activities.
  • Communicate status updates, issues, and potential risks promptly and accurately.
  • Perform tasks related to data governance and system infrastructure as required.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
  • 12+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree, OR 15+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in leading software engineering teams in the development and delivery of complex applications.
  • Experience in managing end-to-end product lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Experience in agile methodologies and continuous integration practices.
  • Experience in risk assessment, effort scoping, and stakeholder communication.
  • Experience in automation frameworks and core product code contribution.
  • Experience in driving innovation and adaptability within engineering teams.
  • Experience in post-deployment support and release management.
  • Experience in data governance and system infrastructure.
  • Experience in communicating technical status and risks to diverse stakeholders.

The estimated salary range for this positionis $194,700.00 to $ 340,800.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Travel Requirements

This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
