| Position Summary |
The Department of Pediatrics seeks to hire a faculty member to join the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (
GPAM) at the University of North Carolina. This faculty position will focus on the delivery of outpatient clinical care to pediatric and adolescent populations with a primary emphasis on adolescent medicine and diagnostic consultation for complex cases. This is a flexible, up to 1.0
FTE, open-rank, fixed-term faculty appointment in the School of Medicine at
UNC Chapel Hill.
Clinical effort will primarily include a mix of the following:
Outpatient Adolescent Medicine
- Provision of comprehensive primary and specialty care for adolescents, including management of complex psychosocial and medical needs
- Participation in multidisciplinary, team-based care models
Pediatric Diagnostic Clinic
- Outpatient consultation and diagnostic evaluation for patients with complex, unclear, or multi-system conditions
- Collaboration with interdisciplinary specialists to support diagnostic clarification and care planning
As a faculty member, this person will join a program that includes board certified general pediatricians, adolescent medicine specialists, nurse practitioners, and LCSWs. This position may involve the supervision of medical residents and advanced practice providers; a successful applicant will have a history demonstrating expertise in this set of skills.
In addition to clinical programs, the division and institution have important research opportunities. Research interests in the division include the impact of social and contextual factors on health, childhood adversity, and health inequities. The Gillings School of Public Health and the Sheps Center for Health Services Research offer opportunities for broader pediatric and adolescent health research.
The
GPAM division is one of the largest divisions in the Department of Pediatrics and includes Adolescent Medicine, Primary Care, Complex & Diagnostic Care, and Child Abuse pediatrics. The division has a nationally known and productive research program and faculty in addition to a long record of teaching excellence. The Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area of North Carolina is an attractive place to live and work with great climate, schools, and both mountains and beach within a day drive. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
M.D. or equivalent; Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics. |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Clinical experience or training in primary care. Experience in medical education and/or contributions to academic scholarship. |
