Description
Got a Steady Hand? Let's Make Sparks.

At Mayville Engineering Company (MEC), skilled hands and attention to detail help turn raw materials into products our customers can count on. Welding is more than joining metal-it's about precision, craftsmanship, and taking pride in a job well done.

We're looking for a Welder who enjoys hands-on work, cares about quality, and is ready to build skills that make a difference. You'll weld metal components to specifications, work from basic blueprints and instructions, and help produce dependable products that meet MEC's standards.

Whether you already have welding experience or are ready to develop your skills, we're looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a safety-first mindset, and a willingness to learn.

Here's Where You'll Make a Difference

  • Make Every Weld Count: Weld metal components according to work instructions, specifications, and established procedures.

  • Read the Plan: Interpret basic blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols to understand what needs to be built and how components fit together.

  • Get Set Up for Success: Set up welding equipment and prepare materials to support accurate, consistent results.

  • Prep Like a Pro: Clean surfaces, fit components, and prepare materials to help ensure strong, quality welds.

  • Take Pride in Your Work: Inspect completed welds visually and use applicable testing methods to verify quality standards are met.

  • Spot It, Solve It: Identify potential weld issues and assist with troubleshooting and repairs to keep quality on track.

  • Take Care of Your Tools: Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.

  • Keep Safety Front and Center: Follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout your work.

  • Be Ready for the Next Step: Operate additional equipment, such as welding robots, saws, and grinders, when required by your assignment.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • A high school diploma or equivalent education and experience.

  • A basic understanding of welding processes and techniques; previous welding experience or training is preferred but not required.

  • The ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.

  • A general understanding of welding standards, codes, and safe work practices.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality workmanship.

  • Good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and the ability to work in various positions for extended periods.

  • A willingness to learn, develop welding skills, and follow established procedures.

  • An interest in completing a certified welding program or apprenticeship is a plus.

The Job, Beyond the Job Description

Welding is active, hands-on work that requires focus, coordination, and physical stamina. Depending on your assignment, you should be able to:

  • Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Frequently stand and walk on concrete floors throughout an 8-12-hour shift.

  • Perform physical activities such as pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and reaching as needed.

  • Operate motorized vehicles throughout a shift when required by the assignment.

  • Work in areas where noise levels may require hearing protection.

Safety matters at MEC, and employees are expected to follow applicable safety procedures and use required protective equipment.

Why MEC? Because Your Skills Build Something Bigger.

At MEC, your work is something you can see, touch, and take pride in. Every component you weld contributes to the finished product, and every team member plays a part in getting the job done right.

  • Build a Valuable Skill: Put your hands-on abilities to work and develop experience in a skilled trade.

  • Learn and Improve: Grow your welding knowledge, learn new processes, and strengthen your craftsmanship.

  • Be Part of the Team: Work alongside coworkers who rely on one another to deliver quality products.

  • See the Results: Take pride in knowing your work helps create products our customers depend on.

  • Explore Your Potential: Build your experience and develop skills that can support your future at MEC.
