What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and safety-driven Recycling Supervisor to lead and manage the recycling operations at the Houston manufacturing site. This role includes supervising recycling material handlers, overseeing daily waste and commodity flow, and driving improvements in material segregation, equipment usage, and sustainability standards. The ideal candidate combines operational execution with strong leadership, team coordination, and continuous improvement focus to support Tesla's mission of minimizing waste and maximizing value through efficient recycling systems.

What You'll Do
  • Supervise recycling team operations (shift planning, task assignments, performance tracking) and provide hands-on training, mentorship, and operational guidance
  • Ensure adherence to Tesla safety standards, PPE protocols, 5S practices, and conduct first-level safety/quality investigations with root cause analysis
  • Oversee segregation, removal, baling, loading, and shipment of recyclables; coordinate with Production/Logistics teams for packaging, trailer flow, and material recovery
  • Operate and monitor recycling equipment (balers, compactors, etc.) and validate MFS transactions for accurate material traceability
  • Partner with Supervisors, Engineering, and Operations to advance factory-wide sustainability goals and support NPI/Quality initiatives
  • Manage insourced recycling fleet operations (driver management, maintenance, yard logistics) and handle POs/invoicing for landfill services
  • Assist Engineering, Inventory Control, and other departments with site-specific operational needs, reporting, and escalation protocols

What You'll Bring
  • 2+ years of experience in material handling or recycling operations, with at least 1 year in a team leadership role
  • Tesla Production Control or equivalent manufacturing environment experience preferred
  • Proven team management, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to operate forklifts, rotators, pallet jacks, and other heavy industrial equipment (certifications preferred)
  • Experience using laptops, scanners, and Microsoft Office tools; MFS system knowledge preferred
  • Strong understanding of waste handling, segregation standards, and recycling flow processes
  • High degree of accountability and attention to safety compliance
