Corrections Food Service Instructor - SCI Coal Township

This position supports food service operations by training and guiding inmate workers in a correctional environment. It focuses on teaching safe, efficient kitchen practices and maintaining smooth meal production. As a Food Service Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

• Training Delivery: Teach inmates proper methods for food preparation, production, service, and baking
• Safety Oversight: Enforce safe and sanitary use of kitchen tools, equipment, and work areas
• Quality Control: Inspect food, equipment, and service areas to ensure compliance with standards
• Inventory Management: Manage ordering, receiving, storing, and rotation of food and supplies
• Work Assignment Planning: Organize inmate tasks and review performance to support daily operations
• Custody Monitoring: Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates during all work activities

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
• Work hours to be determined, 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM or 4:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with rotating schedule.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).
• This position is eligible for full benefits at age 50 or 55.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement:

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
