Responsibilities: JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of a radiologist, this MRI Technologist performs diagnostic MRI exams. The MRI Technologist requires independent judgment, assumes responsibility for tasks or procedures as assigned, and performs data entry operations using approved HonorHealth systems. Is directly responsible for all personnel in Zone 3 or 4, in regard to MR safety. Is a patient safety advocate and ensures 100% of all patients have been properly screened for MR safety prior to entering Zone 3 or 4. Exemplifies ICARE values (Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Empathy) in all encounters with patients, co-workers, and those we serve. MRI Technologist must operate within their scope of practice. Staff member may be required to provide coverage at various locations in the HonorHealth network and participate in on-call coverage as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Practices high quality patient care. Utilizes two patient identification, reviews orders, and history to ensure appropriate procedure and, imaging site is indicated. Protocols procedure with radiologist as needed. Coordinates approval with implant vendor and/or radiologist for non-MR conditional implanted devices prior to imaging. Assist Anesthesiologists and RNs for patients who undergo general sedation for the MRI exam. Transports patients to and from the exam room and assists them into position using safe patient handling techniques and equipment. Performs MRI procedures and observes patient during procedure to ensure patient's safety and comfort. Administers contrast materials as required. Initiates emergency response to contrast reaction as needed. Obtains and reviews images to ensure appropriate technical factors, and protocol utilizing annotations for best image quality. Utilizes EMR/RIS, PACS and other ancillary image management systems. Rotates throughout the department and/or hospital locations as staffing and volume dictates. Participates in orientation, training, and in-servicing of staff, as needed.
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates daily workflow for the department. This may include contacting patients and/or offices to coordinate care. Maintains an orderly, clean and safe environment for patients and staff of assigned area. Maintains stock and inventory as assigned. Maintains equipment in efficient operating order. Performs and documents all required quality control testing. Contacts service for repair and maintenance as directed. Ensures work environment is free from MR safety hazards. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Associates Preferred
EXPERIENCE
- 6 months, clinical experience via employment or training Required
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS
- ARRT-American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Certification, One of the following is required prior to start date: Current licensure in one of the following modalities:
ARRT NMTCB ARMRIT ARDMS U.S. military Radiology General Procedures training program ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT within a year of hire. Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification, Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required
