Primary Responsibilities
HDR's Water/Wastewater Engineer will: serve as design lead or project manager for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including preparing or reviewing scopes, budgets, and schedules, and conducting concept, design development, and contract document work sessions in conjunction with appropriate technical professionals and other disciplines; develop technical specifications, analyses, and memorandums for water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection systems; serve as a technical expert for water and wastewater treatment, collection, and distributions systems, providing technical oversight and resolving issues of greater complexity; perform process and hydraulic modeling to evaluate and optimize wastewater treatment plant performance; serve as a Field Engineer, overseeing pilot studies and on-site construction activities, conducting field observations, and coordinating with clients, construction managers, and contractors to ensure design compliance and project quality; oversee and coordinate with the various engineering disciplines to address design comments, review submittals, and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs); work with the Business/Accounting Manager, Department Manager and/or Managing Principal for project reviews; and review work of and mentor junior engineers and technical staff as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 3 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering; or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 5 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering.
  • Required experience may include professional, internship, or university research experience and must include experience in wastewater process modeling; hydraulic modeling; preparing technical documentation for water and wastewater systems; construction oversight and site inspections; Microsoft Office; Microsoft Project; AutoCAD; and Bluebeam.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (from any US jurisdiction).
  • One to two days per month of travel to local project sites may be required to attend in-person meetings or conduct field investigations or observations. Regional or national travel once or twice per year may be required to attend conferences and trainings.

The expected compensation range for this position is $160,493 to $227,205 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
