Nato Sea Sparrow Missile System Technician

Position Summary:

As a Nato Sea Sparrow Missile System Technician, you will support the U.S. Navy in the troubleshooting, repair and testing of the Nato Sea Sparrow Missile System (NSSMS) in support of Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC). You will be supporting U.S. Navy Ships and serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert. You will interface with U.S. Navy civilian engineers, program managers and logisticians as well as equipment manufacturers. Additional duties may be assigned, including but not limited to logistics, material, and safety responsibilities as it relates to position.

Security Clearance Requirements:


  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance required (Security clearance eligibility may be considered on a case-by-case basis.)




Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Direct, oversee repair activities, train, troubleshoot, diagnose, and maintain the following:

    • MK57 NATO SEASPARROW Surface Missile System (NSSMS)
    • Associated LINUX based software and networks


  • Provide technical support for procurement, installation, at-sea testing, preventive/corrective maintenance, and lifecycle management of systems.
  • Interpret technical manuals, apply repair standards, and maintain accurate technical documentation.




Required Education, Skills, and Experience:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Required NEC (Navy Enlisted Qualifications) in V31A or ISEA
  • 8+ years of related experience with shipboard systems and associated systems.
  • Strong technical comprehension with the ability to read and interpret manuals and standards.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with hand tools and multi-meters.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related technical applications.
  • Knowledge of 3M
  • Fiber Optics Technician Certificate


Physical Demands and Expectations:

  • Must have or be able to attain an adult CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, working aloft and standing; frequent periods of prolonged sitting may be required.
  • Must be able to walk and climb stairs while carrying tools and various other utensils or manuals while on board the ships.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance.
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
