DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health is launching a new general adult genetics program and invites applications from physicians or physician-scientists passionate about adult genetic medicine.

We seek candidates interested in caring for adults with genetic conditions, collaborating across primary care and specialty clinics, and working closely with highly skilled, independently practicing genetic counselors. The ideal candidate will help shape and grow this new program with a forward thinking approach and a clear vision for how adult genetics can best serve the diverse population of San Diego County.

Responsibilities include:

* Providing outpatient adult genetics care with some inpatient consultations* Leading and participating in multidisciplinary clinical settings* Working directly with a dedicated genetic counselor in the adult genetics clinic* Clinical oversight for oncology and prenatal genetic counselors* Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have an MD or equivalent, or MD/PhD in health-related fields.

  • Must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

  • Must be board-certified or board-eligible in Medical Genetics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Candidates trained via the Internal Medicine pathway or with extensive training and experience with general adult genetics.

  • Candidates with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience with adult patients is preferred, however candidates with less experience will be considered

  • Candidates with experience innovating, developing or launching clinical programs.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must pass a background check.

  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and immunization screening.
