OVERVIEW:

McKim & Creed currently has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Design Engineer - EIT to join our Water/Wastewater Group. Responsibilities include technical and design services in support of water and wastewater infrastructure, natural gas, and site design projects as part of a project team.



    DURING YOUR WORKDAY, YOU WILL:



    • Provide technical and design services in support of water and wastewater infrastructure, natural gas, and site design projects as part of a project team.
    • Contribute to technical evaluations and reports, prepare design calculations and assessments, and be responsible for assisting in the production of design/construction drawings, technical specifications, and bid documents, all under the guidance, supervision, and mentoring of Project Engineers and Project Managers on the design team.
    • Conduct, coordinate, and communicate technical evaluations and designs with the Project Manager and design team to complete work efficiently.
    • Be responsible for completing design tasks within a specified budget and schedule, while balancing multiple tasks on multiple projects. Must effectively communicate and correspond with the design team to complete work efficiently and on time.
    • Stay current with Local, State & Federal Design Standards and Regulations


    WHAT YOU'LL NEED:



    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
    • 0-5 years professional experience.
    • Engineering Intern or Engineer in Training Certification, or ability to acquire in the State of Louisiana within 12 months, is required.
    • Candidates experienced with design and plan production utilizing AutoCAD Civil3D will be favored.
    • Must have working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficiencies with this software required
    • Candidates with experience in acquiring permits from review agencies on a local, state, and federal level, including direct coordination and communication with such agencies will be favored.
    • Candidates experienced with modeling software including HEC RAS, ICPR, Hydraflow, StormCAD, EPANET, SWMM, PIPE-FLO, WaterGems/SewerGems/CAD, InfoSWMM, or similar products will be favored.
    • Candidates with experience with GIS, AutoCAD Civil 3d, and/or MicroStation will be favored.
    • Preferred candidate likely to be methodical, precise, and consistent, while enjoying some variety in work schedule and tolerant of change as work demands.
    • Preferred candidate likely to be able to work alone when required but also able to work effectively as part of a team.
    • Process-oriented individual with strong organization and technical skills.
    • Solid communicator, able to take and understand directives from Project Manager and coordinate efforts with design team.
    • Strong writing and verbal skills.
    • Able to complete work consistently with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying demands put on them by Project Manager.
    • Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.
    • Requires successful passing of drug screening test
