The School of Social Work offers M.S.W. and Ph.D. degrees. Dual degrees are offered in Law, Public Health, Public Administration, and Divinity (with Duke University). The faculty members of the School of Social Work have strong collaborative relationships with many campus units such as the Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Law, Government, Education, and the Department of City and Regional Planning as well as University Centers and Institutes such as the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, the Carolina Population Center, the Center for Developmental Sciences, Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute, and the Institute on Aging. We also maintain dynamic relationships with community agencies, state and federal government, and research groups in the Research Triangle Park and across the U.S.

The Family Support Program ( FSP) is a program in the UNC School of Social Work and exists to amplify the voices and needs of families of children with special health care needs. FSP participates in grant funded work with new and existing community and family centered organizations. FSP is the home of the Family Support Network of NC University Office which provides direct supports to families of children with developmental disabilities, behavioral health challenges, and special healthcare needs in a five county region.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. If business needs change, an individual employee's designation may be adjusted with a required minimum of ten (10) business days' notice unless employee conduct or safety issues necessitate otherwise at the discretion of management.

The Family Support Specialist is a 2 year time-limited position. This position will be supporting families of children with special healthcare needs. This position will report to the Program Manager and will work alongside the Program Coordinator.

This main duties of this position are:

* Service system navigation for families through in person, virtual, and social media interactions
* Development and facilitation of support groups both in person and virtually
* Development and facilitation of trainings for families and service providers both in person and virtually
* Engaging with internal and external partners in family centered work
* Utilizing existing data collection systems to collect data for family work

In addition, this position will support other deliverables on a variety of projects with other community organizations. These services may include facilitation of large and small groups, providing training and technical assistance and implementation support.

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

* Experience developing and delivering training programs in both in-person and virtual environments.
* Proficiency using a variety of training and collaboration platforms, such as Zoom and the Microsoft Office Suite
* Lived experience as a special healthcare needs caregiver
* Demonstrated experience in curriculum development.
* Demonstrated strong writing skills.
