SUMMARY:

The educational media specialist is responsible for collaborating with PCOM's instructional staff and students to facilitate the use and integration of audio visual (AV) and multimedia resources and digital tools into instructional material and course instruction. The incumbent possesses and demonstrates a high degree of knowledge and proficiency with educational technology resources, including hardware and software, and provides guidance to instructional staff on incorporating their use to enhance curriculum planning and administration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful incumbent will perform the following duties, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Collaborate with instructional staff to incorporate audio visual resources into curricular content; serve as a consultant to identify and select appropriate resources to achieve desired learning outcomes.
  • Identify and select appropriate resources, including hardware and software applications, to achieve desired learning objectives; participate in ongoing and ad hoc needs analysis, resource selection, and effectiveness evaluation processes, as appropriate.
  • Compile and distribute regular and ad hoc reports regarding resource effectiveness.
  • Lead efforts to train faculty, staff, and students, both individually and collectively, on approved resources; provide technical assistance and troubleshooting on selected resources.
  • Conduct regular and ad hoc inspections and evaluation of selected resources and tools.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, and new and emerging hardware and software technology developments; apply knowledge to recommend and implement changes in policies, procedures, and technology training plans, as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of three years' experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Strong project management skills, including managing scope of work; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously towards achieving desired outcomes.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong communication skills, including interpersonal, verbal, and written.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with word processing, email, and virtual meeting applications, including on the Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 platforms.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field, such as education or communications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to view computer screens for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and mobility to use personal computers and other office equipment.
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.

The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
