Duke University is looking for aWarehouse Supervisor to lead daily operations for the computer surplus program and warehouse services. In this role, you'll oversee logistics, coordinate deliveries and pickups, and ensure efficient warehouse operations while maintaining high standards for accuracy, safety, and customer service.

You'll play a hands-on leadership role-managing schedules, supervising inventory workflows, supporting surplus and PPE operations, and working directly with customers, vendors, and campus partners. Minimum Requirements



  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of experience in shipping, receiving, stocking, or warehouse operations.
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience supervising warehouse or logistics operations.
  • Experience operating medium or heavy-duty trucks and forklifts.
  • Familiarity with inventory, warehouse, or surplus management systems.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to verify documentation accuracy.
  • Highly organized with strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing needs.
  • Willingness to operate vehicles, load/unload materials, and support physical warehouse tasks.



This Position Is

On-site. Work is performed at Duke University warehouse locations in Durham, NC.

What You'll Do



  • Maintain liaison with customers, vendors, and other related persons to communicate information related to deliveries, irregularities in shipments, shipment delays and other related matters.
  • Maintain schedules for deliveries, delivery routes as well as schedules of preventive maintenance on delivery truck and equipment to ensure efficient operation of vehicles and equipment.
  • Operate medium and heavy weight trucks to pick up and deliver materials and supplies.
  • Load and unload truck by hand or forklift as directed and assist in loading and unloading of special or large quantities of materials or equipment.
  • Follow a predetermined schedule of pick-up and delivery; maintain log of work-related activities including materials and supplies transported as directed. Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as carts, racks, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water; maintain cleanliness of assigned area.
  • Maintain high attention to detail to verify surplus documentation for errors in customer data entry (example: serial number, computer type, etc.).
  • Supervise and participate in the preparation and maintenance of documents to include, but not limited to, disposal requests, delivery manifests, and issuance forms to ensure accurate records of activities.
  • Understand and use multiple software programs for warehouse inventory, computer surplus inventory, and reporting.
  • Compile operational data to assist in preparing reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations and/or conclusions.
  • Comfortably use Microsoft applications.
  • Supervise, coordinate and participate in special and scheduled warehouse material inventories as required.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing items in storage warehouse.
  • Assist in bi-weekly furniture surplus program.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $20.60 to USD $32.96. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
