General Job Description Position Summary The HVAC Field Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all HVAC-related field activities at construction job sites or occupied facilities in the Nashville area. This position manages HVAC crews, ensures project deadlines are met, enforces safety and quality standards, and provides technical guidance to installers, technicians, apprentices, and subcontractors. The HVAC Field Supervisor acts as a key liaison between project managers, subcontractors, clients, inspectors, and field employees to ensure the seamless execution of HVAC systems in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes, and company standards. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities across active construction projects. Key Responsibilities Project Oversight & Execution Coordinate the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, including ductwork, controls, furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioning units, ventilation systems, and related components. Interpret blueprints, specifications, construction drawings, schedules, and project documents to guide field crews and subcontractors. Ensure that materials, tools, equipment, and manpower are properly scheduled, delivered, and staged in accordance with project timelines. Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and communicate updates to project managers and other stakeholders. Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of new construction HVAC work, including multi-family or residential construction projects. Leadership & Supervision Supervise HVAC technicians, apprentices, and subcontractors across one or more job sites. Conduct daily briefings, assign tasks, and prioritize work based on project scope, schedule, safety requirements, and technician skill level. Train, coach, and mentor field employees on company procedures, safety policies, quality expectations, and technical HVAC skills. Promote a professional, productive, and safety-focused work environment. Demonstrate strong communication skills when interacting with field teams, project managers, clients, inspectors, and subcontractors. Safety & Compliance Enforce company safety policies, OSHA standards, and job site safety requirements to help prevent incidents and injuries. Conduct site safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations as needed. Ensure all HVAC work complies with applicable local, state, and federal codes, regulations, permit requirements, and company standards. Identify unsafe work conditions or practices and take appropriate corrective action. Quality Control & Customer Service Perform inspections to ensure HVAC work meets quality, performance, and installation standards. Review completed work for accuracy, code compliance, and adherence to project specifications. Respond to and resolve HVAC-related issues during installation, project completion, and post-construction warranty periods. Coordinate with clients, project managers, inspectors, and subcontractors to resolve technical, scheduling, or quality-related issues. Reporting & Documentation Track job progress, labor hours, material usage, work completed, delays, and field issues. Submit regular field reports and updates to project management. Assist in scheduling inspections, coordinating permit-related activities, and supporting project documentation. Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, system startups, testing, and final inspections. Maintain accurate records related to field work, safety activities, materials, and project status. Other Duties Perform other duties as assigned to support field operations, project completion, safety, quality, and overall business needs. Minimum Education None Minimum Years of Experience 4-6 Specific Qualifications Qualifications Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 5 years of HVAC installation, service, or field experience required; 5 to 10 years of new construction HVAC experience preferred. Minimum of 2 years of leadership, supervisory, foreman, or field management experience required. Project management experience preferred. Experience coordinating crews, project schedules, materials, inspections, and subcontractors. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documents. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, controls, furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioning units, ventilation systems, schematics, and installation best practices. Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and make sound decisions in the field. Ability to manage multiple job sites, crews, deadlines, and competing priorities. Proficiency with mobile workforce applications, work order systems, basic Microsoft Office tools, and field reporting tools. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required. Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening. Preferred Qualifications Technical HVAC training, trade school completion, or HVAC certification preferred. State HVAC license where applicable. Additional certifications such as EPA, OSHA, NATE, or manufacturer-specific training preferred. Work Environment Work is primarily performed at construction job sites, occupied facilities, and other field environments in the Nashville area. Regular travel between job sites may be required. May be exposed to extreme heat, cold, humidity, noise, dust, fumes, construction debris, uneven surfaces, confined spaces, rooftops, mechanical rooms, attics, crawl spaces, and active job site conditions. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work safely around construction equipment, tools, materials, ladders, scaffolding, and other job site hazards. May require flexible hours based on project schedules, deadlines, inspections, or urgent field needs. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, push, pull, and perform physical work for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry, move, and position materials, tools, equipment, and HVAC components weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to climb ladders, work from scaffolding or elevated platforms, and safely access roofs, attics, crawl spaces, mechanical rooms, and other HVAC installation areas. Must have sufficient mobility, balance, vision, hearing, and physical stamina to safely navigate active construction sites and inspect HVAC work in progress. Must be able to use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, mobile devices, and required personal protective equipment. Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights when required. Must be able to tolerate exposure to job site noise, dust, temperature changes, and other construction-related conditions.
