Emergency Department Programs and Service Line Manager

The Emergency Department Programs Manager is responsible for coordinating and supporting key Emergency Department service lines, including Geriatric Services, Behavioral Health Services, and Peer Recovery/SBIRT Services. This role serves as the central operational point of coordination to ensure these programs are fully integrated into ED workflows, consistently implemented, and aligned with organizational quality, safety, throughput, and regulatory priorities. Contributes to the achievement of the hospital's mission through the development and leadership of performance improvement activities in the operational and clinical arenas related to quality and regulatory indicators. Assures continual compliance with agreed upon patient pathways and regulatory compliance through the monitoring of patient care activities.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in nursing

Experience:

  • 5 years of nursing experience in an Emergency Department or acute care setting.
  • Experience with geriatric populations, behavioral health services, substance use services, care coordination, or program operations preferred

Licensures and Certifications:

  • RN licensure
  • Geriatric certification
  • CPR Certification

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Emergency Department workflows and interdisciplinary care delivery
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple service lines and program simultaneously (Geriatric, Behavioral Health & Peer Recovery/SBIRT)
  • The ability to be accountable for high-risk populations in the ED, including behavioral health, geriatric, and substance abuse and foster an environment of high-level care.
  • The ability to work with outside organizations that support the Behavioral Health, Geriatric, and Peer Recovery/SBIRT programs and service lines and foster collaborative relationships.
  • Education Responsibilities: policy development and education related to care of the geriatric, behavioral health, and substance abuse patients. Leads evidence-based changes and project implementation related to these service lines.
  • Quality and Safety Responsibilities: Analyze and problem solve safety events related to programs and service lines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across disciplines
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and process improvement skills
  • Ability to analyze performance metrics and support quality improvement initiatives
  • Working knowledge of trauma-informed, person-centered care principles
  • Proficiency with data tracking, reporting, and documentation
  • Effective planning and organizational skills in order to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the Emergency Department for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically.
  • Occasional lifting of light materials (up to 25 pounds).

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment.
  • Requires frequent interaction with clinical staff, leadership, and patients.
  • May require schedule flexibility to support ED operations across multiple shifts

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary operational coordinator for ED geriatric, behavioral health, and peer recovery/SBIRT programs.
  • Integrate program workflows into daily ED operations to ensure consistency across all shifts.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration among ED leadership, nursing, providers, social work, case management, behavioral health teams, and peer recovery staff.
  • Support geriatric-focused initiatives, including age-friendly care practices and geriatric accreditation standards
  • Facilitate efficient behavioral health evaluations, consultations, and disposition planning to reduce ED length of stay.
  • Monitor program performance metrics and support reporting, regulatory, accreditation, and grant compliance requirements
  • Serve as a resource for staff education related to program workflows and best practices.
  • Work with outside organizations that support the Behavioral Health, Geriatric, and Peer Recovery/SBIRT programs and service lines and foster collaborative relationships.

Pay Range

$91,932.81 - $157,746.06

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
