ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER

Chicago Department of Water Management

Bureau of Administrative Support

Number of Positions:1

Starting Salary: $133,836.00/Year

Under direction, this class functions at the managerial level participating in a city department's leadership staff. The class manages a major division or program; has direct responsibility for division or program operations; and works to implement and enhance City infrastructure, services, programs and initiatives across City government; and performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

This position will manage staff working on improving DWM's use of Information Technology, networking, cybersecurity, consulting and laboratory resources. Manages and coordinates networking resources including routers, switches, access points, cabling, topology, design and external circuits. Manages and coordinates cybersecurity efforts with DTI across the network DWM uses. Manages and coordinates with DWM consultants that use DWM and City of Chicago IT resources. Coordinates and directs the work efforts toward researching new technologies, reviews against performance goals and objectives and evaluates programs for deficiencies and accomplishments. Manages functions including budget preparations for IT division and department-wide IT budget allocations. Functions as the head of IT division for DWM, accountable for the management of the department's work operations, direction and oversight of staff, control of budgetary and administrative functions of DWM's IT programs. Performs various additional duties as required.

Additional duties may be required for this position

Location: Jardine Plant - 1000 E. Ohio

Days: Monday-Friday

Hours: 8:30AM-4:30PM; hours and days may vary due to operational needs

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Nine (9) years of experience related to the responsibilities of the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in a field related to the duties performed, including seven (7) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2)

years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a field related to the duties performed, including five (5) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher in a field related to the duties performed, including four (4) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
