Description and Requirements

Lenovo's North America Proposal Team is looking for a Proposal Manager to work collaboratively with Lenovo Corporate Sales and Contracts professionals.

This person will be responsible for the timely submission of responsive, high-quality, competitive proposals aligned with customer requirements and objectives. The Proposal Manager will manage a medium to high workload in terms of number of proposals and proposal complexity.


Responsibilities

  • Reviews, analyzes, and shreds customer request/procurement documents (e.g., RFP, RFI, etc.) to identify key information and requirements, create rough draft proposal documents, and communicate requirements and assignments to the full proposal team.
  • Coordinates cross-functional stakeholders including sales teams, pre-award contracts manager, and subject matter experts (SMEs) during the proposal development process to develop win strategies, identify key differentiators, and develop compliant, customer-focused proposals.
  • Manages and coordinates proposal schedule, resources, documents, and deliverables for timely submission of the proposal.
  • Writes proposal content as required for major proposal sections, including planning, drafting, revising, editing, and incorporating comments and suggestions. Proposal sections may include corporate overview, past performance, resumes, and executive summaries as needed.
  • Collaborates with SMEs to develop and edit content by translating complex design and technical concepts into easily understandable narratives for the customer.
  • Proofreads all proposal content ensuring compliance with customer requirements, readability, grammar and spelling, Lenovo branding, and win theme/differentiator message consistency and clarity. Also provides feedback to SMEs on their proposal content as needed.
  • Submits/assembles the final proposal, primarily in electronic copy document format, but occasionally in hard copy format.
  • Assists NA proposal team members in maintaining and updating internal proposal content repository, including updates to templates.
  • Stays informed regarding proposal and technical industry best practices, trends, and changes in general proposal/contracting standards to continuously improve proposal development processes and outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, English, or related field
  • 2-5 years of experience in proposal management, proposal writing, or marketing communications
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills, with a strong command of grammar, punctuation, and style
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • High attention to detail and adherence to firm deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Dynamics) - graphic design and/or desktop publishing experience is an advantage
  • APMP or Shipley certification, project management certification, or willingness to acquire relevant certification
  • Familiarity with proposal management software and tools
  • Experience working in the IT industry
