The Sr. Tax Accountant is responsible for overseeing all aspects of state and local sales and use tax reporting, compliance, and strategic planning. You are adept at analyzing information, completing necessary forms accurately, and ensuring timely filing with the appropriate agencies. Working closely with tax department colleagues, as well as successful cross-functional collaboration with other internal OS groups/departments and external contacts (consultants, auditors).
A Day in the Life...
- Responsible for all state & local sales and use tax reporting, compliance and planning including gathering and analyzing information, completion of appropriate forms and filing of those forms with the appropriate agency in a timely manner.
- Leads tax review of invoices in Accounts Payable workflow systems. Responds and resolves all sales & use tax inquiries arising from US domestic plant locations. Leads "exemption certificate" evaluation/preparation process.
- Performs state & local sales & use tax audit planning and defense during internal, external and government agency audits. Manages outside consultants that occasionally perform "reverse audit" services.
- Assists the Tax Manager and external tax counsel with IRS and other audits as requested.
- Accountable for the budgeting, payment, and reconciliation of all Massachusetts property tax bills.
- Gathers information in response to requests to assist in preparation of the US Federal tax return as well as state corporate income tax returns.
- Assist in budgeting and long-range planning projects and other projects as assigned.
- Prepares applicable account reconciliations and manages state annual report filing obligations.
- Responsible for all Real Estate tax accruals, payments, filings, and liaising with 3rd party consultants.
- Leads data collection for annual R&D credit support (Fed, MA)
- Manages/Computes the Annual Cost Allocation process
- Serve as a resource (as applicable) for "Bottle Bill" and "PCR" reporting
- Handles entity-level FBAR reporting
- Manages annual 1042 compliance obligations
- Maintain all compliance activities associated with existing & potential tax incentives (61A, EDIP, TIF, etc)
What We Are Looking For: Required
- Experience in all aspects of Corporate, State and Local Sales and Use tax matters
- Experience in US Federal & State tax areas
- Experience with the Federal and Local Audit process
- Capability to analyze and make decisions
- Strong multitasking and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction from management
- Ability to perform tax research and conclude/communicate findings
- Prior experience in Corporate Tax Department
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with SAP (S4), and A/P Invoicing software
Education: Bachelor's or University Degree (Required) Master's Degree (Preferred)
Work Experience: At least 5 Years of Experience
Annual Salary: $72,200 - $99,330
