| Position Summary |
The primary purpose of this Lead Benefits Coordinator position is to plan, organize, conduct and manage patient eligibility determination and benefits services to meet the fiscal requirements of the federally funded Ryan White grants. This includes but is not limited to planning periodic fiscal needs assessments for all
HIV patients in care at the
UNC ID clinic. The goal of the assessment is to determine the level and type of patient financial need and coordinate among multiple benefit programs the patient may be eligible for. These programs include but are not limited to:
UNC Financial Assistance,
UNC Physician and Hospital billing departments, NC
HIV Medication Assistance programs, Pharmaceutical company assistance programs, copay assistance programs, pharmacy benefit programs, grant funds. Where applicable, referrals for Medicaid, Medicare, Marketplace insurance programs and linkage to other benefit navigators may be required. The duties include maximizing third-party payers, and compliance and monitoring of the grant requirements such as sliding fee scales and caps on charges. These duties will involve project and team planning, developing methodology for tracking and reporting program data, database entry and management, electronic health record management, development of written policies and procedures, systematic compliance monitoring and auditing, preparation of patient and staff educational materials, communication with multi-disciplinary clinical staff, program staff, administration, accounting and direct patient contact. Position requires both collaborative and independent work, training and daily supervision of staff, students and others as assigned. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Management Preferences |
Ability to manage databases and utilize data management software, including coordinating data related project tasks.
Ability to support project coordination activities, including organizing workflows, timelines, and multi stakeholder communication.
Ability to provide direct patient assistance, including navigating insurance, healthcare finances, pharmaceutical benefits, and eligibility processes.
Ability to work within
EPIC or other
EHR/
EMR systems to document and manage patient information accurately.
Ability to apply knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of
HIV care in support of program needs. |
