Location: This position will be on-site full-time in Chicopee, MA. The position holder will need to be within commuting distance (within 45 min).

Summary:

The Supply Chain Manager manages, plans, and coordinates the activities of the Purchasing and Planning Department engaged in purchasing and distributing raw materials, supplies, products and services from vendors to maintain production levels. Purchases and negotiates all vendor supplied materials, contracts and services, as well as coordinates delivery times. Accepts, critiques, reviews and approves vendors and material sources, purchase requisitions, quotes and bids. This role develops purchasing policies and procedures and ensures compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures. Analyzes trends to determine timing and extent of purchase commitments for various commodities. Oversees expediting of deliveries, processing of invoices and department records. Reviews MRP and other reporting to develop a materials procurement plan. Organizes activities in support of customer and production requirements. The Supply Chain Manager oversees the production schedule coordination to ensure client needs are met, schedules are communicated timely, and the production team is well equipped to produce goods. Supports senior management in managing strategic relationships with suppliers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Promotes Safety, Security and regulatory compliance in all Supply Chain activities.
    • Drives the development of production teams (cells) by aligning roles and responsibilities in support of:
      • Achieving service levels targets for on-time delivery.
      • Meeting existing product quality requirements.
      • Producing product at existing material and labor standards.
      • Drives "team based" continuous improvement on the production floor.
      • Recognizes and rewards individual and team improvements.
  • Implements "visual controls" on the production floor which communicate objectives and monitor production team performance against those objectives.
  • Sources and negotiates goods and services needed in manufacturing from vendors.
  • Supports engineering procurement requirements in support of product development.
  • Establishes purchasing policies and procedures to accomplish procurement of a variety of materials in a cost-effective manner and ensure compliance within the company.
  • Examines and awards bids. Negotiates blanket purchases when appropriate and monitors cost.
  • Establishes supply programs (VMI, Consignment, JIT, Safety Stocks, Kanban, etc.) and provides demand forecast and PO coverage to all suppliers to prevent any supply constraints and disruptions.
  • Monitors delinquent deliveries and takes action to resolve any supply constraints to prevent disruptions for production and our customers.
  • Establishes periodic cycle count process.
  • Assists the GM in the completion of physical inventories. Reconciles inventories and reports to accounting.
  • Leads, manages and monitors inventory levels, on-time shipment of finished goods, and the procurement.
  • Is responsible for the management of inventory levels through the measurement of total inventory value, warehousing space cost, inventory obsolescence, and inventory turns.
  • Implements programs to reduce slow moving and obsolete inventories.
  • Leads supply cost savings initiatives funnel and periodic reviews to monitor progress and actual savings.
  • Establishes KPIs to monitor and control all key activities in the Supply Chain organization.
  • Supervises, coordinates and provides strategy directions, and review project work of direct reports.
  • Collaborates with Quality Management to establish an incoming inspection program and other quality assurance activities.
  • Collaborates with customer and operations to maintain flawless On Time Deliveries.
  • Participates in strategic supplier visits.
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares reports for management.
  • Collaborates with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate rapid growth.
  • Implements team development strategies to improve knowledge, function, and value of purchasing and planning team.
  • Collaborates with corporate Procurement and Sourcing organizations to identify and create best practices process / guide for simplified planning and sourcing, leverage corporate wide spend, simplify the spend profile, identify and/or develop best practices for contract development.
  • Collaborates with the Commercial organization to identify appropriate customer material and / or finished good programs, safety stock or MOQ agreements and generate documentation as necessary.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Business Administration required, Bachelor's or equivalent preferred.
  • 4 to 8 years' experience in comparable manufacturing business and high volume / cost purchasing.
  • Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills in order to perform job duties independently and make decisions which meet company goals and objectives. Must be able to independently analyze data and determine appropriate course of action.
  • Demonstrate strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication / negotiation skills in order to perform job duties successfully.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
